Start

Tap the pad, or press Space, and 220 starts: level clicks, two dots trading places, no first beat marked. Tap once more and it is quiet.

Change the tempo

Tap the number under the pad and type a whole tempo, or press minus and plus. Twelve presses of minus bring the click down to 208, where the most common wind-up scale in Wikipedia's Metronome article ends.

Questions and answers

Is 220 BPM the fastest frenchcore gets?

No. Wikipedia's Frenchcore article leaves the top open: a set can run from 180 BPM "all the way to 220 or more", and some performances, it adds, end on speedcore, a faster style still. 220 is only the highest number the sentence prints.

How fast is frenchcore usually?

Around 200 beats a minute, with variation, by the same article: twenty below this page's setting. Its opening line says the style differs from other hardcore by a faster tempo, usually above 160 to 185. The 220 belongs to its sentence about whole sets.

What does a metronome dial print at 220?

Prestissimo, if anything. Of three dials pictured in German Wikipedia's Tempo article only the Japanese names a tempo word past 208: Prestissimo, from 208 up. Wikipedia's list of tempo markings starts it at 200. Both sources present their figures as rough guides.

Which note lengths go with 220 BPM?

Halves of the beat (eighth notes) last 136.4 ms, thirds (triplets) 90.9 ms and quarters (sixteenths) 68.2 ms; a dotted eighth is 204.5 ms. Our division. Count every second click as the beat and the tempo is 110, which has its own page.

Why can't I hear the metronome?

On a phone the click is easily lost three ways: the ring switch is on silent, the volume is at nothing, or Bluetooth has handed the sound to earbuds in a pocket. The dots on the pad keep swapping at 220 regardless.
