How it works
A 185 BPM metronome clicks at the upper figure of the range Wikipedia's Drum and bass article opens with: breakbeats, typically 165 to 185 beats a minute. Lower down, the article says the style is usually between 160 and 180.

Start
Tap the pad, or press Space. At 185 the clicks come level and fast while two equal dots take turns, with no bar marked. Tap again and they stop.
Change the tempo
Tap the number under the pad and type a tempo, or press minus and plus. One press of minus reaches 184, a notch of the most common wind-up scale in Wikipedia's Metronome article; the next notch up, 192, is seven presses of plus away.
Questions and answers
Is 185 BPM fast for drum and bass?
On the fast side. Since around 1996 the style's tempos have mostly stayed between 170 and 180, by the history in Wikipedia's Drum and bass article, which leaves 185 five beats above that band. By 1993, it says, the pace was around 155 to 165.
Is 185 BPM presto or prestissimo?
Presto. Wikipedia's list of tempo markings runs it from 168 to 200 and starts Prestissimo there, fifteen beats on. Three dials pictured in German Wikipedia's Tempo article print Presto at 185 too, from 176, 168 and 180. Neither source treats its figures as exact.
What is half time at 185 BPM?
92.5, which the field cannot hold: 92 or 93 is the nearest whole tempo. At 185 itself, by our division, a dotted eighth note takes 243.2 ms, an eighth 162.2 ms, each note of an eighth-note triplet 108.1 ms and a sixteenth 81.1 ms.
Why can't I hear the metronome?
Silence at this speed nearly always starts with the phone: the ring switch, a volume set to nothing, or Bluetooth passing the click to a speaker. The beat stays visible, two dots alternating 185 times a minute.
