A 118 metronome clicks at the middle of Allegro moderato: 116 to 120 in Wikipedia's list of tempo markings, glossed there as close to allegro, but not quite. Allegro opens two beats higher. The list calls every figure very rough.

Start
Tap the pad, or press Space. No click at 118 is picked out and two equal dots take turns, so it serves a bar of three as well as a bar of four. Tap again and it stops.

Is 118 BPM fast enough to be allegro?
Not in Wikipedia's list of tempo markings, where Allegro opens at 120. At 118 the words are Moderato (108 to 120), Allegretto (112 to 120) and Allegro moderato (116 to 120). Andante, Andantino and Andante moderato all ended at 108, ten beats back.
Does a slow foxtrot go as fast as 118 BPM?
In competition, yes. World DanceSport Federation Rule E.3.2 prints 28 to 30 bars a minute for Slow Foxtrot, and Wikipedia's Ballroom dance list writes foxtrot in 4/4: 112 to 120 beats, by our sum. 118 is 29 bars and two beats.
Is 118 BPM house music?
It is inside the span Wikipedia's House music article calls typical of the style, 115 to 130 beats per minute. The article gives a span, not one tempo.
Why would a metronome print adagio at 118?
Ranges vary with the era, the culture and the make, says German Wikipedia's Tempo article. It pictures a 19th-century French metronome with Adagio over 98 to 124; the English list ends Adagio at 66. Its German dial reads Moderato at 118, its Japanese one Animato.
Why can't I hear the metronome?
Check three things on a phone: the ring switch, the volume, and any Bluetooth speaker or earbuds that may have the sound. The pad still shows the tempo, one dot and then the other on each click.
