How it works

A 125 BPM metronome clicks the low figure Wikipedia's Trance music article gives the genre in general: 4/4 at 125 to 150 beats a minute. Its opening lines say 120 to 150, and a track may take any tempo.

Tap the pad, or press Space. The 125 comes in fours: a higher click, then three plain ones. Tap again and it stops.

Any of them, by Wikipedia's articles. House music has a typical tempo of 115 to 130, techno ranges from 120 to 150, and the more recent trance styles sit level with house at 120 to 135. All three ranges hold 125.

Thirty-one and a quarter, by our sum. That falls inside two ranges of the World DanceSport Federation's 2026 rules (Rule E.3.2): Tango, 31 to 33 bars a minute, and Cha-Cha-Cha, 30 to 32. Wikipedia's Ballroom dance list writes both dances in 4/4.

Both, in Wikipedia's list of tempo markings: Allegro runs 120 to 156, and Molto allegro or Allegro vivace begins at 124, one beat below this page. Moderato and Allegretto stopped at 120. The list calls its figures very rough approximations.

Which metronome dial says andante at 125?

A 19th-century French one pictured in German Wikipedia's Tempo article: Andante over 124 to 152, though the English list ends Andante at 108. Its Japanese dial prints Animato over 116 to 126; its German one, like the English list, Allegro. Approximate hints, the article says.

Why can't I hear the metronome?

Rule out three things on a phone: a ring switch set to silent, a volume of zero, and Bluetooth headphones that took the click. Sound or not, the bar stays on the pad as four dots lighting in order, the first one bigger.
