How it works
Lento metronome speed is 40 to 60 beats a minute in Wikipedia's list of common tempo markings. The list gives the word as slow, nothing more, and its figures as rough guides that vary widely between composers and works.

Tap the number under the pad to type a whole tempo, or press minus and plus. On the most common wind-up scale in Wikipedia's Metronome article this range is the stretch that climbs in twos, 40, 42, 44 and so on to 60: eleven notches, none of them odd. The pad plays 49 and every other odd number too.
Questions and answers
What is the metronome marking for lento?
Wikipedia's list of common tempo markings sets Lento at 40 to 60 beats a minute. Of the slow words that start at 40 or 44 it stops first: Largo, Larghetto and Adagio run on to 66.
Which metronome marking is slower than lento?
Three, on two lines of the same list. Grave, very slow and solemn, shares 24 to 40 with Adagissimo and ends on the figure where Lento starts. Beneath both comes Larghissimo, which the list calls the slowest type of tempo: 24 and under.
Is lento slower than largo or adagio?
Hardly, in figures: Lento and Largo both start at 40, Adagio and Larghetto at 44. The words differ more: Lento is slow, Largo slow and broad, Adagio slow with great expression. The Tempo article's French Lent and German Langsam are as plain: slowly.
Is a lento metronome marking always 60 or under?
No. Wikipedia's article on Chopin's Etude Op. 25 No. 7 gives it as Lento at 66 beats a minute, a figure it takes from the German first edition. That is six past the list's top figure; the list does call its numbers very rough.
Why can't I hear the metronome?
Most often the phone is muted: look at the ring switch, then the volume, then whether Bluetooth is sending the click to a speaker in another room. With no sound at all the pad's two dots still alternate, one swap to a beat.
