A typing test warm up, start to end
1. Type the routine in the box from start to end. No clock runs. 2. When the text ends, take the typing speed test. 3. For another routine, open Passage under More options.
Six routines
Short, medium and long use letters only. The fourth takes each finger down its column from the digit, as in a1qaz. The fifth adds capitals, commas, full stops and question marks. The sixth works the left hand alone, then the right, then both.
Questions and answers
How long is a typing warm up?
The short routine is 44 words, the medium 58 and the long 80. None is timed, so each lasts as long as you let it; the run ends when the text does.
Does a warm up make you type faster?
Find out on your own hands: take the typing speed test cold one day and after a routine the next, and compare the two results. This page quotes no study and makes no promise.
Is a warm up the same as a typing drill?
No. A drill repeats one thing, often against a clock: keyboard speed practice does that on common letter runs. A warm-up routine is one ordered pass over the whole keyboard, and then you stop.
