How it works
This typing test for call center work times you on what an agent types during and after a call: call notes, chat and email replies, and account updates, with order numbers, amounts and dates. Set 1, 3 or 5 minutes.

Three kinds of text
Call notes record who called, why, what was done and what happens next. Chat and email replies are short, polite and exact. Account updates change one field at a time, with the old and new values. Pick a group in the Passage menu, or let one passage roll into the next.
Figures are the fields that matter
Every sum in the passages is right: $41.20 less $38.90 is $2.30, and $240.00 over four months is $60.00 a month. A wrong digit in a note is a wrong refund, so slow down for numbers.
- Read a whole sentence before you type it. On a real call you will be listening at the same time, so steady beats fast.
Questions and answers
What typing speed do call centers ask for?
It varies by employer, and we found no published standard to quote. Ask the recruiter for the speed, the length of the test and how errors count, then practise here at that length until you beat it.
Why do the passages use American spelling?
The notes are written the way a US agent would write them, with spellings such as color and apologized. Type exactly what you see: a British spelling counts as a slip, however right it looks.
Will an employer accept my result?
No. This is a self-test with no certificate and nothing to prove who typed. Use it to find your speed and your weak spots, such as amounts and dates, before the real test.
