Metronome 112

112 beats a minute in 4/4 time, beat one higher: tap the pad.

Beat length at 112 BPM

How it works

Metronome 112 is the number where Allegretto begins: Wikipedia's list of tempo markings gives Allegretto 112 to 120, inside Moderato's 108 to 120. It calls its figures very rough, and notes that Allegretto once meant only slightly faster than Andante.

Questions and answers

Is 112 BPM a foxtrot tempo?

It is the slow end of one. World DanceSport Federation Rule E.3.2 (2026) sets the slow foxtrot at 28 to 30 bars a minute. Wikipedia's Foxtrot article gives the dance a 4/4 bar, and 28 bars of four beats make 112: our sum.

What classical piece is marked 112?

Beethoven's Symphony No. 1, for one: the score excerpt in Wikipedia's article on the symphony heads the first movement's Allegro con brio half note = 112. That movement is in 2/2, so two clicks of this pad fill one of its bars.

Does a wind-up metronome have a 112?

Yes, on the most common scale. Wikipedia's Metronome article lists that scale rising in fours from 72 to 120, which puts a notch at 112 between 108 and 116. Not every scale is arranged that way.

How do I set 112 BPM in 3/4 or 6/8?

Not on this page, which counts in four. The 3/4 and 6/8 metronomes on this site open in those bars: type 112 under either pad. In 6/8 the number then counts dotted quarter notes, two to a bar.

Why can't I hear the metronome?

On a phone, the ring switch may be set to silent, the volume may be at zero, or the sound may have gone to a Bluetooth speaker. Either way the four dots light in turn, the large one on beat one.
