How it works
This mental math test opens on Level 2: two-digit sums and differences, tables to 12 and division facts, mixed for two minutes. The result is correct answers a minute, accuracy and the questions you missed.

How the test runs
Press Start, or type the first answer and the clock starts. An answer is checked when its last digit goes in, with no Enter. A wrong one shows the right answer for a second. The Drill menu and the run lengths of 1, 2 and 5 minutes are under More options; each pair keeps its own best.
From easy facts to hard mental math questions
Level 1 stays within 20, with the 2, 5 and 10 tables. Level 3 moves to three digits. Level 4 mixes two digits times two digits, squares to 30 and percentages. The list of drills lower on the page gives every range.
Questions and answers
How many questions are in the mental math test?
As many as you answer before the clock stops. Questions are made in your browser from each level's number ranges, so no two runs are alike and there is no fixed count.
Is this a mental math quiz or a test?
Both names fit: mixed questions, a clock and one score. There is no passing score and no ranking. A result is set only beside your own best on the same test and run length.
Is there a basic math speed test?
Yes. In the Drill menu under More options, choose Level 1 test, within 20 for sums and differences within 20 with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Four more tests there keep to one operation each.
Which level is a hard mental math quiz?
Level 4: two digits times two digits, four-digit sums, squares from 11 to 30, division by 11 to 25 and percentages of round numbers. Level 3 is the step before it.
What is a good score on a mental math speed test?
This page gives no average and no grade, because it has no honest way to. The number to beat is your own best on the same test and run length; accuracy shows what the speed cost. To work on one skill, use mental math practice.
