How it works
A larghetto metronome has no agreed setting. Wikipedia's list of common tempo markings gives Larghetto, rather slow and broad, 44 to 66 beats a minute; three dials pictured in German Wikipedia's Tempo article print the word over three other bands.

Tap the pad, or press Space. Sixty comes as level clicks while two equal dots take turns; one more tap on the pad ends it.
Change the tempo
Tap the number under the pad and type a whole tempo, or press minus and plus. Three presses of plus reach 63. Only 60 to 63 lie inside the list's range and inside both dial bands that overlap it.
Questions and answers
What tempo is larghetto?
Larghetto tempo is 44 to 66 beats a minute in Wikipedia's list of tempo markings: a shade quicker than largo. Wiktionary gives the word as the diminutive of largo, and Wikipedia's glossary of music terminology reads it as somewhat slow, not as slow as largo.
How many BPM is larghetto on a metronome dial?
Three dials give three answers in German Wikipedia's Tempo article. A 21st-century Japanese dial prints Larghetto from 58 to 63 and a 20th-century German one from 60 to 66. On a 19th-century French dial the word only begins at 70 and runs to 98.
Does larghetto come before or after adagio on a metronome?
Either. On the German and French dials pictured in German Wikipedia's Tempo article Larghetto lies below Adagio; on its Japanese dial it follows Adagio, which stops at 58. The article cites Larghetto to show that even the order varies, and calls every band a hint.
Can a larghetto metronome mark be higher than 66?
Yes. Wikipedia's article on Beethoven's Second Symphony shows its Larghetto, in 3/8, at eighth note = 92. That 92 counts eighth notes, while the 44 to 66 of Wikipedia's tempo list are rough figures for 4/4. No mark, the list says, follows from a word alone.
Why can't I hear the metronome?
If the pad's two dots are swapping and nothing sounds, the phone is the place to look: its ring switch, a volume resting at zero, or Bluetooth earphones holding the click. Until it is found, the dots keep the 60 by eye.
