132 BPM Metronome

Every click alike at 132 beats a minute: tap the pad.

Beat length at 132 BPM

How it works

A 132 BPM metronome clicks once for every bar of the scherzo in Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. Wikipedia's article on the symphony prints the movement's opening in 3/4 under Presto, dotted half note = 132, a note that fills the bar.

Questions and answers

Is 132 BPM allegro or presto?

Allegro. Wikipedia's list of tempo markings puts Allegro at 120 to 156, Allegro vivace from 124, and Presto from 168. The scherzo of Beethoven's Seventh, marked 132, is still a Presto: each click is a whole bar. The list calls its own figures rough.

What classical music is 132 BPM?

Two Beethoven movements, for instance. The Seventh's scherzo takes a bar to a click. The trio of the Sixth's third movement is marked In tempo d'Allegro, 2/4, quarter note = 132 in German Wikipedia's table of his 1817 marks: there a click is a beat.

What genre is 132 BPM?

Dubstep starts about here. Its Wikipedia article gives the genre a tempo that is nearly always 132 to 142 beats a minute, so 132 is the bottom of the band. Most releases, it adds, sit at 140, which has its own metronome on this site.

Does a metronome's dial have 132?

Usually. The commonest wind-up arrangement, set out in Wikipedia's Metronome article, moves six at a time once it has passed 120, so 132 is its second stop after that, with 126 below and 138 above. Other dials are numbered differently.

Why can't I hear the metronome?

A phone's ring switch is the first thing to check, the volume the second and Bluetooth the third: headphones may have the click. With no sound the pad still shows 132, its two dots swapping on every beat.
